Avid Upper Body Break is an interactive session focused on upper body aches and pain. We teach self-care and lifestyle strategies for treating and preventing symptoms. We highlight ergonomic best practices, whether you're working at a desk or picking up kids all day long. We walk through an interactive set of exercises that increase mobility and build strength, followed by a self-massage demonstration.

Dr. Veronica Jow, internist and sports medicine physician, has specialized in non-invasive musculoskeletal care for the past 10 years. She is the founder and primary physician at Avid Sports Medicine, an innovative San Francisco based clinic offering a multispecialty team-based care model.  In addition to treating common sports medicine issues such as knee, neck, and back pain, Dr. Jow empowers patients to use exercise as medicine to achieve an active and balanced lifestyle. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Harvard University and medical degree from Case Western Reserve University.  She completed residency and fellowship training at Cornell and the University of Connecticut, respectively.

Cozy Up to Mindfulness: Simple Ways to Bring More Calm Into Daily Life

    Sunday, March 26, 2023
    1-2 PM Pacific via Zoom

Perhaps you’ve heard how helpful mindfulness is, but can’t fit yet another thing into your schedule. Or you’ve tried meditation and found yourself feeling antsy at the three-minute mark, ready to tackle your to-do list instead of sitting still. Amidst the frenzy of mom life, it can be difficult to pause long enough to catch your breath, let alone block off time to focus on it!

This workshop will introduce you to several easy ways to incorporate mindfulness into your day, allowing you to pick and choose which techniques work best for you. You will walk away with an understanding of what mindfulness is, its remarkable impact on your well-being, and a personal plan for integrating gentle, intentional presence into your everyday activities.
